Is high school though?
You probably remember the moment when you get your high school diploma. But do you remember which games you were playing at 8 years old? Laurent Simons, a young Belgium kid, have just completed secondary school at only 8 years while his classmate was at least 18 years old! Whereas a typical years old kid should start Year 2, Laurent is already enrolled at university!
Born in Ostend, a port city in Belgium, the little Laurent has an IQ of 145. A result well above average, between 90 and 109.
A rising star?
He arouses such curiosity in Belgium that he gave his first press conference this week. “I am very proud, I am also very happy to have finished school, I do not know what I will do next, I will think about it for two months”.
His favorite subject? “It’s mathematics,” he explains, “because it’s so vast, there’s statistics, geometry, algebra … there are several directions.
Will he be a surgeon? Astronaut?
Last year, he had already joined the team of researchers at the Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. “He approaches things differently, he has so much capacity that it would be a shame to see them evaporate,” says his father, a dentist.
Will he be a surgeon? astronaut? It does not matter; his dad answers: “If he decided to become a carpenter tomorrow, that would not be a problem for us, as long as he is happy.”
