Sports and academic are somewhat related. Now that you know don’t worry if your child is too involved with sports rather than academic because it will all come together. Physical activity not only improves the muscles and it’s coordination, but it also improves the brain function as well.

Dr James Sallis, a professor at the University of California in San Diego, stated that they have evidence that for years, children who are physically active and fit are to perform better in academic wise. Why? This is because physical activities are good for brain development regardless of age. New neurons, new connections and new blood vessels, are stimulated, and it helps improve memory, attention and reasoning.

A Healthy Body Means A Healthy Mind

Physical activities help release endorphins, which will improve moods. According to Dr Sallis, children who are physically active have fewer chances of having depression and anxiety. These two are the reasons why kids are stressing out in classes. Physical activities too can help a child have quick reflexes and sharp concentration which will lead to full concentration and quick thinking.

Research has been made, and it shows that these children are more likely to ace English, maths and science.

How To Encourage Your Child to Be More Active?

Dr Sallis stated that parents are the gatekeeper for their child’s activity and they have to find ways to keep that gate open. It is easier when children can safely play with their friends in the neighbourhood, but many parents are not comfortable letting their little one out, even if it’s in their neighbourhood.

Another way to encourage your child is to know what sports they are into, and then enrol them in the class. If they are into ballet, let them join the class. If they are into football, let them join the team. But, also take note that finding for a good instructor is very important too. If the instructor isn’t positive or encouraging, then there is no point for them to enjoy the classes and they will tend to fall out.

It is never too late to start enrolling your child in a sport. Safety is the key, and of course, injuries are normal. Your little one will get used to it, and they will grow and learn out of it too. So, parents, what are you waiting for?
