The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore has announced the school calendar for 2025.
This calendar provides the schedule for MOE Kindergartens (MK), primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges (JC), and Millennia Institute (MI).
Understanding the school terms, holidays, and important dates can help students, parents, and educators plan ahead effectively.
School Year Overview
For all MOE primary schools, secondary schools, and kindergartens, the school year begins on Thursday, 2 January 2025, and concludes on Friday, 21 November 2025.
However, the last day for schools used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations will be Friday, 24 October 2025.
The academic year is divided into two semesters, each with two terms.
School Terms for MOE Kindergartens, Primary and Secondary Schools
Semester I
- Term I: Thursday, 2 January 2025 to Friday, 14 March 2025
- Term II: Monday, 24 March 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025
Semester II
- Term III: Monday, 30 June 2025 to Friday, 5 September 2025
- Term IV: Monday, 15 September 2025 to Friday, 21 November 2025
For Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 students, school starts on Thursday, 2 January 2025, while Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 students will commence their school year on Friday, 3 January 2025.

JC Year 1 and MI Year 1
Semester I
- Term I: Wednesday, 5 February 2025 to Friday, 14 March 2025
- Term II: Monday, 24 March 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025
Semester II
- Term III: Monday, 30 June 2025 to Friday, 5 September 2025
- Term IV: Monday, 15 September 2025 to Friday, 28 November 2025
MI Year 2, JC Year 2, and MI Year 3
Semester I
- Term I: Monday, 13 January 2025 to Friday, 14 March 2025
- Term II: Monday, 24 March 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025
Semester II
- Term III: Monday, 30 June 2025 to Friday, 5 September 2025
- Term IV: Monday, 15 September 2025 to either the end of the academic year, or the conclusion of the GCE A-Level examinations.
School Vacations for 2025
The school year includes four vacation periods for all students, enabling ample time for rest, family bonding, and extracurricular activities.

MOE has designated three specific school holidays for 2025:
- Youth Day: Sunday, 6 July 2025 (The following Monday, 7 July 2025, will be a school holiday.)
- Teachers’ Day: Friday, 5 September 2025
- Children’s Day: Friday, 3 October 2025 (for primary schools and the primary sections of full schools only)
Public Holidays
Public holidays that coincide with the school terms are important markers for extended weekends and family activities.

- New Year’s Day: Wednesday, 1 January 2025
- Chinese New Year: Wednesday, 29 January 2025, and Thursday, 30 January 2025
Term II
- Hari Raya Puasa: Monday, 31 March 2025
- Good Friday: Friday, 18 April 2025
- Labour Day: Thursday, 1 May 2025
- Vesak Day: Monday, 12 May 2025
Term III
- Hari Raya Haji: Saturday, 7 June 2025 (Monday, 9 June 2025, will be a designated day off-in-lieu)
- National Day: Saturday, 9 August 2025 (Monday, 11 August 2025, will be a school holiday and designated day off-in-lieu)
Term IV
- Deepavali: Monday, 20 October 2025
- Christmas Day: Thursday, 25 December 2025
Additional Notes for Parents and Students
Designated Days Off-in-Lieu (DOIL)
In line with the public holidays that fall on weekends, schools will be closed on Monday, 9 June 2025, and Monday, 11 August 2025. This closure extends to General Offices, Student Care Centres, and KCare Centres.
