Making mistakes, especially in parenting, is perfectly normal. As we know, parenting doesn't come with books of instructions which same goes to life. We react to something according to what we think is right and wrong. It's a try and error process as it goes because we don't even know what will happen until we experience it. If both life and parenting come with guidelines and instructions perfectly fit every single one of us, I bet this world would be a happier place for all of us. There are indeed parenting books written - but let's be real now! It doesn't necessarily help us accurately. Well, it could give us some reference for certain things that are rather common. But we got to remind ourselves that we can't follow everything exactly how the book said. We each have our own story that we know is different from others. What are those parenting mistakes every parent makes? Let's have a look together! That Screaming And Yelling You're Guilty Off! Ever remember there are days before you were a parent, you remind yourselves not to do such a thing. But then again- let's be real no matter how much you are avoiding it, you ended up doing it as well. We are humans; after all. As much as you are guilty of doing this, you got to admit that screaming and yelling to your kids are something how you wish you won't do, especially when your kids misbehave. The least that will happen is, your kids realise to not repeat the same mistakes ever again. However, such things will only make them scared of you even more. Kids also have their way of letting out their emotion such as throwing tantrums and crying for quite some time. Maybe once in a while, you should let your little one cry it all out, and you're just there hugging them. It will warm their soft heart even more, make them feel wanted, and can always rely on you; their parents. Arguing In Front Your Kids Truth be told, there are pros and cons to arguing in front of your kids. It all depends on how you handle your problem. If you are the type who handle problems calmly, that'd be good exposure for your kids. But if you are the type that handles a problem chaotically, then, it will be a bad exposure for your kids. Kids might think some of our behaviours is a great example for them just because you do it! Our kids are more likely to look up to us for inspiration. Same things apply to say inappropriate things in front of your kids. Sometimes we didn't realise that kids heard what we say. It always got us thinking, how on earth do they learn it, and where did they learn it? It is indeed a norm for kids to not being able to say inappropriate things since they don't know the meaning of the word. So, the next time you feel like you want to say all those bad words, it is better to say it in your heart or when nobody is at home just to be safe. Or even better, don't say it at all! Letting Your Kids Being Independent Every parent wants their kids to learn to be independent at some point in their life. It isn't wrong to teach your kids to be independent at a very young age. It will be great for them if anything happens and also one of the ways for your kids to learn problem-solving on their own. They are, after all, an avid learner. It will encourage your kids to be creative as well. Believing Everything You Read And Hear Being new parents would make you think that you have to believe and follow every single thing you heard and read. Indeed, you don't have any experiences yet regarding baby care. But before believing such word from any parenting source, you should be able to think about the sensibility of it. Not all parenting advice works the same way for all of us. That is why parenting is a trial and error process. More observing and less relying on such sources. Last but not least, let's admit to doing this! You may be guilty of judging other parents when you'd see them doing things you didn't even think of doing to your kids. The easy example would be parents letting their little kids wandering on their own without any adult supervision. Every time you see that you are upset. You may be overreacting but trust me, some people feel that way too. But who knows the parents taught them independence at a very young age and trust them to wander on their own. We never know. Yet parents should always supervise their kids until they are capable of doing so themselves. All in all, there is no such thing as perfect parenting. We make mistakes, and we learn from it just like how we are with life! Try and error, following the flow is normal. Do what makes you feel right and don't be embarrassed.
