If you love beaches, you probably know by now about Lazarus Island. While Singapore is an island nation itself, you can still explore other small islands surrounding the country!

Lazarus Island is one of those hidden gems you wouldn’t want to miss. Alternatively known as Pulau Sekijang Pelepah, Lazarus Island is part of Singapore’s cluster of Southern Islands and is connected to St John’s Island via a causeway.

5 Fun Things You Can Do On Lazarus Island

1. Swimming

As with any swimmable beaches, you wouldn’t want to miss swimming here. The waves are soft and not too big, making it a suitable place to swim as a family. Take not that there are no lifeguards on duty at all times.

2. Sunbathing & Lounging

If you can’t or don’t prefer to get wet, at the very least you can sunbathe on the white sand and tranquil beach on the C-shaped lagoon. Did you know that the white sands were imported from Indonesia? How interesting!

3. Have A Picnic

What better way to spend with your loved one on a sunny and breezy day than with a romantic picnic? The more the merrier if everyone can bring something unique to eat and drink by the beach! Just be sure to clean up after you’re done so others can enjoy the scenic spot too.

3. Fishing

If you’re a fan of fishing or would like to try out this self-fulfilling hobby, you can do so here. Though not exactly on Lazarus Island itself, you can fish on the part of the shore on St. John’s island facing Lazarus Island. Potential fishes include Barramundi, Golden Snapper, grouper, bream and sicklefish.

4. Explore Lazarus Island

Lazarus Island is not too small, but it is not too big either! So, it is great for exploring, preferably with a buddy. Who knows, you might spot a thing or two that has never been discovered there before! If you are planning to explore, be sure you wear comfortable footwear and clothes.

On top of that, wear long-sleeved clothes and long pants to avoid mosquitoes and sandflies. Better yet, be sure to put on some mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
