Often, children set goals and quit halfway through. But, there are a number of children who go all the way until they achieve their goals. There are also children who still set far and go the extra mile.

So, how can you encourage your little ones to stay focused and to do their best without giving up halfway through? You don’t want them to end up being that anxious perfectionist or a rebellious slacker throughout the process too. Don’t worry parents, you can train your children to go the extra mile as well as teaching them on how to set healthy boundaries.

How To Help Your Kids Go The Extra Mile

1. Healthy boundaries
It is important for you to teach your child how to set healthy limits. If your child loses his or her health throughout the way, then, going the extra mile doesn’t mean anything.

2. Persevering attitude
Encourage your child to have a persevering attitude. Make sure your child has a “never give up” attitude. Sometimes, it is also important that you set high expectations for your child as they will perform much better! Children will also surprise us if we allow them to!

3. Support your kids
Support their goal and vision, help them make it visceral as possible. Know their goal. When the vision is clear, they can be more confident, and they will thrive forward.

4. Never allow quitting
Don’t let your child have a quitting behaviour. When your children tell you that he or she wants to quit and that it has been a continuous behaviour, it is important that you can’t give in that easily. In short, if we give in that easily, we are setting our children up for a pattern of quitting. Whenever your children want to participate in something, make sure that he or she is clear about the commitment and the consequences for premature quitting.

5. Set an example for your child
Be a role model and set good examples for your children. Share your lessons to your kids so that they will understand what’s it like to set higher boundaries for themselves.

Parents, helping your kids go the extra mile is really important. After all, this is their future, and you are only there to help for a short journey of time.
