To commemorate World Mental Health Day today, City Square Mall gave out 600 free ice creams sponsored by FairPrice Supermarket.
This initiative is part of the mall’s month-long efforts to uplift shoppers and remind them to celebrate the little joys in life.
The ice cream giveaway was graced by Dr Wan Rizal, Co-chairperson of the People’s Action Party (PAP) Mental Health Group, alongside Mr George Chan, General Manager of City Square Mall, and Ms Porsche Poh from Silver Ribbon (Singapore).
Together, the representatives handed out ice cream from 10.10am at the L1 Atrium, in front of Cedele, from an iconic Kombi Rocks van.
Shoppers enjoyed not just a sweet treat but also a fun, photo-worthy moment! In less than 2 hours, all the ice cream was fully redeemed by enthusiastic shoppers.
“World Mental Health Day is a time for us to remember the importance of mental health. Everyone can be susceptible to mental health issues, regardless of age or status in life. We want to ensure that every Singaporean gets the right support they need.
I would like to thank City Square Mall for playing such an integral role in today’s initiative. City Square Mall’s efforts in promoting mental health awareness are something we welcome and hope to do more of in the future,” said Dr Wan.
First in line was 77-year-old Mdm Ding.
“I always come to City Square Mall and heard about this free ice cream initiative from a friend. I think this is a good initiative, and I like malls that do things like these,” said Mdm Ding, who lives in the vicinity.
One of the oldest people in line was an 89-year-old lady who came to the mall to have breakfast and came across the striking red Kombi Rocks van, which attracted her attention.
Others that were in the queue included 43-year-old Joyce, who travelled all the way from Toa Payoh and was second in line. She heard about the initiative from a promotional website.
In addition to the ice cream giveaway, primary and secondary school students can redeem a complimentary sweet treat from now till 31 October 2025.
This is part of the mall’s initiative to motivate students during the exam period. Students can flash their student pass at the B2 Customer Service Counter to redeem their complimentary sweet treat.
