Guiding your kids to do their homework can be time-consuming, especially knowing that they are not into doing it. They rather have fun outside or play with their gadgets. But as parents, we should help them in a way that they can understand there is always something to achieve hiding on the other side. In this case, by doing the homework, it helps them to understand the subject better.

Your kids will soon realise the importance of homework, even if they still hate it so much. They will work hard to learn it at least to get the knowledge of it. These homework hacks don’t just help your kids finish up their homework but also have the potential to promote their love for learning.

Homework Hacks That Your Kids Need!

Dedicate a space at home for your kids to do their activities – maybe renovating the extra room you have at home into a study room. So, all of you could do your homework there instead of messing up the dining table when you have a task to do. If your space is limited, the dining table will always be the spot for you and kids to use and let them have their homework caddy.

We all know how writing can be tiring, and for your kids, they simply like to write or scribble something. If you do not know, kids have their pencil grip development. They will slowly develop their gripping skills as they grow. But that doesn’t mean you can give excuses not to teach your kids the right way to grip the pencil.

Remind your kids to write it on the sticky note on which homework that they need to prioritize for the day/week. Stick or pin it on the board you hang in the study room. Print up a calendar that would cater your kids to be the leader of their schedule (but make sure they include homework in their plan).

If you could think of other ways to remind your kids of their homework, do so. Don’t forget to set each day a time for your kids to finish their homework. During that time nobody can disturb them to do any other things.

Aside from that, you can teach them to use the Pomodoro Technique, which is a study technique that allows us to study for a specific amount of time while allowing breaks in between the period. For instance, your kids need to finish their homework within two hours, and during those two hours, they deserve 10 to 15 minutes break for every 30 minutes of studying/doing homework.

During this time, it is advisable for the mother to do your work alongside them as well. When both of you are in the same space and completing your tasks, it will enhance their interest to finish up their homework. At the same time, it is easier for children to ask any question regarding their homework.

For every time they finish their homework, reward them. Reward them with their favourite ice cream or any sensible treat you could think. You can introduce them to learning apps on the phone, but you need to make sure that you allow them to use and play the apps for a certain amount of time that you have set.

When you go out to buy groceries, bring your kids along with you so they learn many things while they are outside. By exposing them to things that they couldn’t learn in school or at home can promote good development.

There you go! Now let’s get your kids to finish their homework on time and encourage them to love to learn everyday. Stay tuned to our blog for more tips and tricks and check out Mamahood.com.sg for all your baby’s needs!
