Stretch marks happen when the skin is extremely stretched, and long and narrow lines will then be developed. These marks are common amongst women after pregnancy and is a reality you have to cope with. 50 to 90 % of pregnant moms tend to develop stretch marks way before the baby’s arrival. Moms… they’re starting to leave marks on you! Anyway, these marks will proliferate during the final trimester of the pregnancy, and so you know, you’re not in this alone.

What can I do about my stretch marks during pregnancy?

Moms, note that you can’t prevent from getting those zigzagging stretch marks across your body, but you can start taking good care of your skin!

1. Moisturise

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!! No cream can miracle cure your stretch marks, but it’ll help with the dryness and itchy skin that you’re facing.

2. Watch your weight

Try to follow the general calorie intake for pregnant moms. Keep an eye on your weight and make sure to put on slowly and steadily. Take note that eating for two doesn’t mean that you must eat twice as much.

3. Nourish from the inside

Make sure to consume plenty of vitamin C as it will help reduce stretch marks and keep your skin toned.

Tips for healing stretch marks after pregnancy

1. Stay hydrated

I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true! Your skin will thank you later! Skin cells are able to function correctly and repair by themselves more efficiently and is able to recover from pregnancy stretch marks! Beach bod, here I come!!

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin helps remove the top layer of dead skin cells and heals better in the thicker layer of the skin. Make sure to exfoliate at least once a week.

3. Massage with oil

A gentle massage will help the increase of blood flow and breaks up the scar tissue. Apply a few drops of oil to your palms and gently massage your belly and to the other parts of your body.

4. Give it time

I know that you can’t wait to get rid of those marks; unfortunately, they don’t disappear overnight. But, it’ll fade slowly within the 6 to 12 months. Be patient and relax, and try to follow the tips given above and you will soon see the results!
