These Places in Singapore Allow You to Donate Books (and more!)

We have those days where we have this sudden urge of wanting to do some spring cleaning at home. You saw your old books lying around the house and have this thought of what should you do with them? Well, we got the solution for you – just donate your books for charity! By doing this, your house will have more space for other stuff, and indirectly, you can help others improve their life as well.

But, where can I donate these books?

Fret no more as we prepared a few suggestions of places for you to drop off those books. But don’t forget to go through your books properly, check between the pages, and make sure it is still in good condition. Who knows you may have kept something in between the pages of the books you own.

Places For You To Donate Books

+1 Dignity Mama Stall

Project Dignity Pte Ltd started this project that allows parents with their special needs young adults to manage the stall which sells pre-loved books. This project is to build the skills and confidence they needed to run the business while allowing parents to care for their kids.

+2 The Salvation Army

This project by Red Shield Industries (RSI) runs many programmes and social services to help people in need. They get most of their funds from sales at their Family Thrift Store. This project also runs in both Malaysia and Myanmar.

For bulkier items, you could arrange a collection service by calling +65 6288 5438, making an online booking at, or reach them via email donor@SMM.salvationarmy.org with a brief description of what you are donating, your collection address and your contact number. The organisation would appreciate an optional donation of $60 per collection.

+3 Blessing In A Bag

A former radio DJ Emily Teng founded this project. It’s a non-profit organisation which associates among the communities, orphanages, homes, and schools across Asia. The organisation goal is to provide underprivileged children with the things they need. This organisation collects and give out toys, hygiene products and school supplies to families in the rural area. Items that aren’t able to be given away are resold to help cover their operational costs.

+4 EcoBank Collection Drive

EcoBank is a joint project between City Developments Limited and Eco-Business. They organise an islandwide collection for pre-loved items every year, which will be sold at their EcoBank Bazaar. The goal of the event is to help raise funds for The Children’s Charities Association of Singapore (CCA).

Rather than throwing away your old books or let them take up space in your house, it is better to donate the books for a good cause. Your pre-loved books could help other needy and unfortunate people out there. Trust me, you will feel better and at ease knowing that you have done some good deeds with a more spacious home!
