1. Authoritarian

Authoritarians are also known as strict and controlling parenting. They are characterised as parents who are demanding, but they are somewhat not responsive. They believe that their kids should follow the house rules no matter what and they do not take their child’s feelings into consideration. This style may be suitable for healthy growing child development, but things can go out of hands too. The child of authoritarian parents are most probably to have low, and they are shy to socialise with people.

2. Permissive

Permissive parents are very lenient towards their child. This style is known to be potentially harmful because they are not demanding but are responsive. Parents who are permissive are forgiving parents, and they think that “kids will always be kids.” They are known to be like a friend rather than as a parent to the child. This structure lacked building discipline and self-control in their child, but of course, there are benefits too. This parenting style usually is very loving and nurturing.

3. Authoritative

The most effective and beneficial style is authoritative parenting style. Parents with this style have high expectations for their child, but they are very understanding and supportive as well. This style is known to create the healthiest environment for child development, and they produce a highly productive parent-child relationship.

4. Uninvolved

Uninvolved parenting style is known to be one of the most harmful styles of all. They are unlike any other parenting style because they do not get involved with their child. They just don’t spend time with their child. Children from this household don’t get their parents’ attention nor loving and nurturing. Uninvolved parents expect their child to take care of themselves and their child are more often to struggle with self-esteem.

Some parents don’t fit into one category, so it’s okay if you find yourself being authoritative and sometimes being permissive, but studies are shown that the best parenting style is authoritative parenting. But I think is a parent is committed and dedicated towards their child, you can surely have a good relationship with your child.
